āBe brave. Be resilient. Donāt take no for an answer.ā

Over the past couple days, I experienced something unexpected ā a sudden emergency that resulted in a hospital stay. While Iām recovering now, this experience brought about powerful lessons that I feel called to share with you, my clients, colleagues, and community.
šæ The Importance of Advocating for Yourself
I had to advocate for myself countless timesĀ throughout this experience. When youāre in pain and vulnerable, it can feel incredibly defeating ā like your voice doesnāt matter. But it does. And I kept fighting to be heard.
There were many moments when I felt unheard and unprioritized. I had to reach into the very same mental health toolkit I often offer to my clients:
⨠Radical Acceptance
š§ Mindfulness and Meditation
š¬ Reframing Anxious Thoughts
š Positive Self-Talk and Affirmations
š§” Rest, Self-Care, and Being Proactive
If thereās one message I want to emphasize, itās this: Donāt wait. Listen to your body. Prioritize your rest. Seek care when something doesnāt feel right.
Being proactive about our health and wellness ā both physically and emotionally ā is essential. Donāt let yourself burn out before giving your body the care it deserves.
šØāš©āš§āš¦ The Power of Support Systems
I was reminded how vital our relationships are. You never know when youāll need your community ā so be intentional about nurturing it.
To my family, thank you for being by my side. To my clients, thank you for your grace and loyalty as I navigated cancellations and rescheduling. Your kindness carried me through.
This experience deepened my commitment to nurturing the relationships that matterĀ ā and I encourage you to do the same.
š§āāļø Meditations That Helped Me Through
Here are a couple meditations that brought me peace and grounded me during the hardest moments. I hope they support you too:
š” How to Advocate for Yourself (In Medical Situations or Beyond)
If you ever find yourself in a situation like mine, please remember:
ā Speak up, even if your voice shakes
ā Ask questions ā you deserve clarity
ā Bring a trusted friend or loved one if you can
ā Write things down or ask for written instructions
ā Trust your gut
ā Ask for a second opinion
ā Do your research
ā Be persistent ā you are worth fighting for
š¬ Final Thoughts
If youāre struggling or feeling overwhelmed, please know:
You are not alone. You are allowed to speak up. You are allowed to rest. You are worthy of excellent care.
With gratitude and love,
